Interim results from the UK Carbon Capture and Storage Consortium project

Introduction The UK Carbon Capture and Storage Consortium Project was started in June 2005 by a group of 14 UK universities and research institutions with funding from the UK Research Councils’ Towards a Sustainable Energy Economy (TSEC) Programme. The mission of the consortium is: “to promote an understanding of how options for decoupling fossil fuel use from carbon emissions through the use of carbon capture and storage could be used to assist the UK in achieving an energy system which is environmentally sustainable, socially acceptable and meets energy needs securely and affordably”.
